LYON AND RHÔNE CUP – HALF TO DISTRIBUTE
–
THE DEPARTMENTAL COMPETITIONS WILL MAKE THEIR RETURN THIS WEEKEND WITH THE CUP OF LYON AND RHÔNE SENIORS AND A DUEL BETWEEN VENISSIEUX FC AND FC LYON, TWO R1 PENSIONERS.
THE OTHER MEETING, NEXT WEDNESDAY NIGHT, WILL PUT THE POUCET OF THE TEST, FC GERLAND AND OUTSIDER, FC SAINT-CYR COLLONGES…
There will be no hole in the winners of the Coupe de Lyon and the Rhône seniors…
Because despite the pandemic and the short window of opportunity to play all the matches at the end of last season, the 2020-2021 edition will come to an end with from this weekend, the semi-finals.
On the bill, two very different meetings with two neophytes at this level, FC Gerland, which will host FC Saint-Cyr Collonges next Wednesday evening. Either the thumb of the event who will attempt the feat of being the first D2 club to reach a departmental cup final, against an ambitious R3 team coached by a specialist in the event, Clément Guillot, with three finals in its assets (2017, 2018 and 2019). A meeting also unbalanced on paper since the Lyonnais therefore evolve in D2 while the Saint-Cyrots are part of the ambitious teams of R3. Or two levels of difference.
ONE DERBY ALLECHANT DE R1…
The other meeting of these semi-finals will be more balanced, always on paper, since it offers a real derby between two residents of R1, Vénissieux FC who will host FC Lyon on Saturday late afternoon.
Winner of the 2019-2020 edition with Sébastien Dodille at the head, the oldest club has changed with the arrival at the helm in the offseason of Yacine Hima, the former OL player.
He will find on the opposing bench of FC Vénissieux one of his former Olympian partners in the person of Remy Voisard, the Vénissian co-trainer.
Difficult to identify a favorite in this meeting after an almost blank season on the championship side for the two protagonists. Perhaps a small option for commuters who will have the advantage of receiving.
But a very small one then …
