Following the announcement of a wedding in Williamsburg with about 1,000 guests, Governor Cuomo ordered health officials to ban the event.
Sources indicate that it is the marriage of the grandson of an important rabbi.
The activist, Naftuli Moster, posted the alleged invitation on Twitter stating that the wedding is planned for Monday on Rodney Street and will be attended by “tens of thousands of community members.”
State officials say that after the investigation, they worked with the New York City Sheriff’s Department to enforce the ban.
An event of that scale is against city ordinances for meetings.
This fact follows recent protests by the Orthodox Jewish community against security measures.
Governor Cuomo added that the city will be monitoring activity in the Williamsburg area.
