The City University of New York, CUNY for its acronym in English, offers scholarships so that young people can take courses that train them in different trades and can find a better job.
The Staten Island campus has a number of courses under the Workforce Development program.
They offer courses to be medical or dental assistants or training to install air conditioning systems.
Although the courses have costs between 1,500 and 2,800 dollars, the university offers 100 percent scholarships for low-income students.
Interested young people must have a high school diploma, it does not matter if the diploma is from another country.
Those 18 years of age or older and New York residents may qualify to take the courses for free.
For more information you can call 718-289-5170 or send an email to workforce.development@bcc.cuny.edu
