La Palma will recover its roads and communication routes or at least it is the intention of the Government of the Canary Islands that has found the commitment of the Ministry of Transport that has made its technical resources and advice available to the Autonomous Community to help restore normality on the island.
This is how the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, has pronounced in an interview on Radio Club Tenerife – Cadena SER during her second day of the agenda on the island of La Palma.
Sánchez, who has witnessed the delivery of the keys to the thirteen homes that the Government of the Canary Islands acquired in the municipality of Tazacorte for those affected by the lava from the Cumbre Vieja volcano, has maintained that “we are aware of the situation” and the mobility difficulties caused by the advance of the lava flows from the volcano to the sea.
“I had the opportunity to speak with the President of the Cabildo and with the President of the Canary Islands about the situation of the highways,” said the Minister responsible for connectivity in the State. “The new connection route to Puerto Naos is expected to be completed in a month. It is going to improve the coastal area of Los Llanos and that should be the keynote: act on the reconstruction and recovery of the island’s road infrastructures”, assured the head of the Ministry who recalled that, from now on, the maritime route between La Palma and La Peninsula will be included in the Public Service Obligation (OSP) catalog.
