The parliamentary committee of inquiry into the cum-ex affair meets this week for the last time this year. In 2022, the former Mayor of Hamburg and current Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) is expected to be questioned again. According to information from NDR 90.3, it is also in the room that the entire committee of inquiry has to travel to Berlin for this.
The hurdles are high to hear Olaf Scholz as Federal Chancellor. Details on this are regulated in Section 50 of the Code of Criminal Procedure: Members of the Federal Government are entitled to be heard at their place of work – in this case in Berlin. The approval of the cabinet is also required.
CDU: “Everyone is equal before the law”
An effort that at least the opposition in the Hamburg citizenship wants to accept. “Everyone is equal before the law,” says Richard Seelmaecker of the CDU. He is therefore not interested in the fact that Scholz is now Federal Chancellor. And Norbert Hackbusch from the Left says: Scholz’s new office is not a reason to forego an interrogation, but increases the need to summon him again.
