The Punta del Hidalgo Citizen Center, in La Laguna, receives tomorrow [sábado 28] a function of the work Bar Manolo, from the Amateur Theater program of Auditorio de Tenerife, which depends on the Culture Area of the Cabildo directed by the counselor Enrique Arriaga. The proposal by the Tatrum theater association will begin at 7:30 p.m. and admission is free until full capacity is reached.
In this play we are introduced to Bar Manolo, a popular establishment for being located right in front of the cemetery. Manolo, the owner of the bar, is fond of crossword puzzles and drinking. He is accompanied by Conchi, who is in charge of cleaning and cooking. During the show, a wide variety of characters will arrive at the venue, where forbidden love, vices, complicity, and madness will take place. One day things get out of control due to the death of an acquaintance and an accident that includes a coffin, an old woman whose memory fails and a lottery number.
Nine are the interpreters of the Tatrum theater association that give life to this proposal. José Manuel Sosa will play Manolo, the owner of the bar, while Yesica Rodríguez will play Conchi, the cook. Hugo Rodríguez will play Carlos the teacher and Mariana Rodríguez will play Silvia, Leticia’s mother, who will be played by Yolanda Peña. Luisa and Paco are the funeral home workers, roles entrusted to Olga Vanesa Curotto and José Luis Rubio, respectively. Finally, Olgui González will become Blanca, the widow, and Pepe Damas will play Jesús, the plumber.
Bar Manolo It is a work that bears the signature of Jean Pierre Martínez and whose direction is in charge of Irene Pérez. The costumes and scenery for this performance, which has the collaboration of the La Laguna City Council, are provided by the theater group itself.
Amateur Theater is a program of the Educational and Social Area of Auditorio de Tenerife. This art fosters interest in the fans and the production of theatrical activities within the existing associations on the island. It is intended to stimulate the concerns of communication, exchange of ideas and creativity of members belonging to youth, cultural, women’s and neighborhood groups, among others. Its fundamental objectives are to promote a taste for the practice and development of theater, as well as the attendance and public interest in plays; contribute to enrich the technical-artistic quality of amateur theater groups and create different working groups.
