Culture presents its XXVII ‘Ciudad de Lucena’ Theatre Week

From October 16 to 25, the program will offer 15 varied shows with artists such as Pepe Viyuela or Lolita Flores

The Culture Department of the Lucena City Council has announced the programme for the “Ciudad de Lucena” Theatre Week, a cycle that this year reaches its 27th edition and will be made up of a total of 15 shows to fill the stages and streets of the town with laughter, magic, suspense, dance and great figures of the national scene between October 16 and 25, 2024.

For Francisco Barbancho, Councillor for Culture, this is “a first-class programme prepared with great care to continue strengthening this well-known and admired event, distributing the different shows over two weeks in the form of a festival to achieve the greatest possible attendance”. This cultural agenda has had a budget of 75,000 euros and the sponsorship of the Andalusian Network of Public Theatres and the Provincial Council of Córdoba, as well as the collaboration of the Social Services and Equality and Diversity delegations, and the participation of the Duque de Rivas Theatre School.

The Theatre Week will begin on October 16 at the Erisana Palace with The happiness of penguinsby Claudio de Souza Castro Fihlo, winner of the Morales-Martínez / Barahona de Soto 2023 children’s texts award, to give way to one of the highlights of this edition: Poncia, with Lolita Floresa work based on The House of Bernarda Alba by Federico García Lorca, which will take place at the Municipal Auditorium.
