Pesaro, 27 October 2024 – With an eye towards the future, Pesaro throws his candidacy together with Urbino and all the municipalities of the province, a European Capital of Culture 2033. The formula, already tested this year by Italian capital of culture with important results in terms of organized events and presences, is that of the Capital squared, in which in turn, the Municipalities of the province have become the Capital together with Pesaro, in turn presenting events and initiatives.
A widespread project, which has made it possible to involve the entire territory, from the coast to the hinterland, on which Pesaro will once again aim to achieve its nomination as European Capital 2033. And after major events of the current year – starting from the success of the Rofbut also the immersive work The Life of the artist Marina Abramovico Kagamithe late August tribute to the Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto –, the road is definitely clear.
The protagonists, yesterday, at the States General of Tourism
“For us, 2033 began in 2019 – says the deputy mayor and councilor for culture of the Municipality of Pesaro, Daniele Viminiduring the States General of Tourism 2025 which were held yesterday in Pesaro – that is when we were in Matera in the last days in which it was the European Capital. Precisely on that occasion we presented, together with all the municipalities of the province, the candidacy for European Capital 2033. It might have seemed like a ‘crazy challenge’, but it just needs to be prepared in time. Within the dossier we will also present all the investments that the Municipality of Pesaro has decided to do on cultural buildings, including the one relating to theScavolini Auditoriuminaugurated this year, but also those involving other cultural buildings in the city, with 44 million euros of resources that can be used thanks to the Pnnr”.
Vimini then underlines the other element of the strategy that will lead to the candidacy: “The idea of the 50×50 it proved to be successful, involving the entire territory and we could document in detail the real path undertaken with this project, something that other entities cannot count on”. As was remembered during the States General of Tourismthey were 566 events organized so far through the 50X50 Capitale project, for more 43 thousand attendances.
“In the past few days – he adds – the European Capital 2030 has been assigned. There are only three years left until the 2033 capital is announced. It will certainly be tough but it is worth it face this test – says Vimini –. Among other things, I remember that, in terms of budget, the European challenge moves with “investments” with two zeros more than the Italian one”.
The Foundation director was also present at the meeting Arnoldo and Alberto Mondadori, Paolo Verriwhich was the director of Matera 2019 European Capital of Culture: “It is difficult to imagine a greater fortune than that of directing a European Capital of Culture, but we must not give in to the temptation to please everyone,” he said, then passing the floor to Paula Mota Garciacoordinator of the Évora 2027 candidacy project, who, connected from Portugal, presented the path and success of the candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2027 and Edward Columbuspresident of Turismi.Ai, who spoke about artificial intelligence applied to the tourism sector.
The conclusions were entrusted to Matteo RicciMEP, vice-president of the Commission for Transport and Tourism and former mayor of Pesaro. “The Italian Capital of Culture 2024 is great they fly throughout the regionwhich perhaps was not understood.
