By discovering, two years ago, the text of Davide Enia, Alexandra Tobelaim was literally upset. “I had discovered this author while reading ‘Italy-Brazil 3-2. We made a show of it, which has been performed over 160 times. Then Olivier Favier, the translator of this book, sent me a second manuscript. I discovered it in Italian and was overwhelmed. I said to myself: the story is strong, we can’t miss it, these words must resonate ”. Chance did things well since it was in Thionville that the new director of the Nest was able to make her project a reality. For ten days, Solal Bouloudnine, actor , Claire Vailler, musician and singer, follow the rehearsals at the Théâtre en Bois.

A real slap
In the program : ” Abysses », A storytelling trip to the island of Lampedusa. Prepare to fill up with emotions. On stage, an actor-narrator and a musician-singer, nothing else. For an hour and twenty, with the help of their voices, they will make you lose your footing, feel anger and tear you away from tears. Davide Enia’s story is poignant, but very real. Tough. It echoes the exile of migrants on this Italian island. The story begins with these words which announce the darkness of the painting: “We here are used to death”. Over the course of his meetings, Davide Enia gives the floor to a diver, to a welcoming couple, to the cemetery keeper. They bear witness to the unspeakable, recounting exile, brutality and rapes at the mercy of shipwrecks. The words are powerful, often chilling. With “Abyss”, you will take a slap. You will certainly change your outlook on these migrants. Because « Abysses »Is also a great lesson in courage, a call to live intensely. A must see.
