Culture is the best way of peaceful coexistence, said Bence Rétvári on Friday in Ipolyság, Slovakia, where he opened the 41st Hont Cultural Days.
The parliamentary state secretary of the Ministry of the Interior added: a deeper experience of culture brings people together and strengthens their identity. If you live your identity, one person will not become the enemy of another, he emphasized.
At the ceremony, Bence Rétvári expressed his hope that there will be Hungarian representation in the Slovak parliament after the election on September 30.
As he said, Hungarians make up 8.5 percent of the population in Slovakia, the parliamentary threshold is five percent, so there is a good chance that Hungarians will be represented in the Slovak legislature. This will give you the chance to strengthen the representation of the interests of the southern part of Slovakia.
Bence Rétvári encouraged everyone to make use of the opportunity to choose.
He also talked about migration, emphasizing that it has become an increasingly important topic in the Highlands in recent weeks.
He added that the Hungarian police and border guards prevented 110,000 illegal border crossing attempts on the Hungarian-Serbian border, despite this, many illegal migrants and people smugglers appear in Slovakia as well.
That is why the border protection cooperation between the two countries was important, within the framework of which a Hungarian-Slovak patrol pair performs duty at several locations in Rajka, Vámosszabadi, Komárom, Esztergom and Parassapustán.
In addition, after a consultation held in August, it was also decided that two policemen of the Hungarian emergency police and one Slovak policeman will perform night duty along the Ipoly, while four Hungarians and one Slovak will perform daytime duty on the same section, from Szob to Bernecebárati, the state secretary said.
Bence Rétvári said that since the beginning of September, four to six police officers from the depth control department of the Pest County Police Headquarters have been working here, so the border protection has been significantly strengthened.
