With the typical obstinacy of artists, they did not stop in front of an economic request that would have discouraged anyone involved in culture. They moved forward overcoming the disappointment of being rejected by their city and found a space anyway. But what happened to the company Sweating in addition to embittering, it raises – once again – a whole series of questions about how cultural containers are managed Salerno.
The background
It all started when the company was invited to participate in the initiative curated by the professor Vincenzo Esposito and from Interdepartmental Anthropology Laboratory of the University of Salerno dedicated to Annabella Rossi. An opportunity seized upon by the artists with the idea of supporting the University event with a two-day workshop (for a total of 8 hours) with around thirty participants. From Pariswhere the company was born and performs, the most suitable space for the laboratory seemed to be there Pasolini Room.
The “bloodletting”
After an infinite series of attempts to contact the representatives who deal with the management of the Hall, after having sought in vain the mediation of thecouncilor for culture who was in charge at the time and only thanks to personal relationships, the company managed to contact the managers of the Campania public theater who, for the use of the space at number 7 in via Lungomare Trieste, without the addition of any service, asked 1.708 euro.
