Culture-Cinema: Senegalese films selected for the 2020 edition of “OUAGA FILM LAB”

Two Senegalese film projects were selected among ten others selected for the fifth edition of the “Ouaga Film Lab” platform, scheduled for next November in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The announcement was made by the organizers on their website.

“Debout mon enfant” (fiction) by Pape Abdoulaye Seck, is one of the two projects selected, with the documentary “Doxandem: the hunters of dreams” by Saliou Sarr alias “Alibéta”. According to the director, “Debout mon enfant” is freely inspired by the novel of the same name by the Senegalese writer Seydi Sow, Grand Prize of the Head of State for Letters in 1998.

Pape Abdoulaye Seck has already directed the short film titled “Sagar” (2014), dealing with the drama of a woman traumatized by her miscarriages, a film that has won several awards around the world.

The documentary project “Doxandem: The Dream Hunters” by Saliou Sarr will be produced by “Gorée Island” by Yanis Gaye.

“Ouaga Film Lab” aims to be a development and co-production laboratory in supporting young writer-directors and their producers.

The selection committee of “Ouaga Film Lab” selected a total of ten film projects out of the hundred or so applications received from 25 countries in West, Central and Great Lakes Africa, after a call for applications launched in February. until March 2020.
