Culture authorizes the continuation of works on Uberna Street where archaeological remains were found | Radio Elche

The joint venture Aigües d’Elx It already has authorization from the Ministry of Culture to continue with the work to improve the sewerage and drinking water network in the calle Uberna that had been paralyzed after finding archaeological remains. This action will be followed by the creation of a unique platform on this street by the Department of Sustainable Mobility.

Once the procedure is completed and the archaeological report of the action on Uberna Street, the remains found will be covered and protected with geotextile and gravel in order to continue with the planned works.

On Friday, Uberna Street will be opened to traffic to serve the residents of Fatxo Street, whose address will be changed from this day. In this way, neighbors will be able toaccess their car parks while the archaeological tastings are carried out at this point where there are remains of the Elche wall, located at the bottom of the building on the corner of Fatxo and Diagonal Traspalacio streets.

The inspector of Archeology of the Territorial Service of Culture of the Generalitat, José Luis Simón, in a recent visit to the works on Fatxo Street, he suggested that the archaeological tastings be expanded to determine the nature of the findings and to know if it is a wall or a tower belonging to said wall.
