  • Thursday July 28 at 00.45: v’lan in the eye

It was after returning from a long journey (especially in Egypt) that Hervé began to write the most important works in his catalogue. Freed from all artistic constraints thanks to a decree putting an end to the monopoly of the great Parisian theatres, the composer can now consider opéra-bouffe as a genre for big shows.

If The Knights of the Round Table, despite their undeniable qualities, are a failure, L’Oeil crevé will on the contrary impose itself on the repertoire of many theaters.

Created at Folies-Dramatiques on October 12, 1867, L’Oeil crevé took some time to find its definitive title: it was first L’Oeil de Mademoiselle, then more soberly V’lan dans l’oeil.

After the broadcast of the long version of V’lan dans l’œil, place à Pablo Sainz Villegas pays tribute to Andrés Segovia

To commemorate the 70th edition of the Granada Festival, Pablo Sáinz Villegas pays tribute to one of the pioneers of the festival, Andrés Segovia.

Andrés Segovia’s performance during the very first edition of the festival in 1952 made an impression. To honor this Andalusian classical guitar prodigy, the festival called on his natural heir, guitarist Pablo Sáinz Villegas. During this recital suspended in time, Pablo Sáinz Villegas performs emblematic pieces from his new album, composed in particular by Francisco Tárrega, Joaquín Rodrigo or the great Granados and Albéniz.

  • Last page evening at the shows Thursday August 25 at 00.20 with Carmen at the lyrical nights of Sanxay

The Lyric Evenings of Sanxay present Carmen, Bizet’s most performed opera in the world for a century and a half.

Carmen belongs to the genre of comic opera, but which Bizet transfigures: if he retains its liveliness, the comedy is strongly tempered by the tragedy of Mérimée’s story. It also keeps the alternation of sung passages and spoken passages (moments of dialogue without music). But after Bizet’s death, they were replaced by recitatives (spoken-sung passages accompanied by the orchestra) written by Ernest Guiraud – so that Carmen is no longer really a comic opera but simply an opera.
