On Saturday, Stian Hansen had the pleasure of debuting his first solo exhibition “Moments for Nothing” at NOUA.
– It feels incredibly good to finally be able to show off what I’ve been working on for the past six months. I am very grateful for the invitation from Dan Mariner and Marianne Bjørnmyr at NOUA in addition to all the help and support from friends and family, says Hansen.
Ended up with nails
Hansen’s exhibition consists of a series of “trompe-l’œil” paintings, where the nail is the motif. In addition, the exhibition consists of a number of bronze sculptures.
– The bronze gives them an associative weight to the history of sculpture. In addition, I have created a site-specific floor structure consisting of location marks inspired by markings from stage productions. All the works are grounded in the economy of painting.
Got the name from plays
Hansen is educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo and the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. In addition, he is curator and producer for the exhibition room Stormen kunst in Bodø.
He gets his inspiration from everywhere.
– I take in information continuously.
The exhibition’s name is taken from Samuel Beckett’s “Endgame”.
– There are also some common denominators in the way I work and Beckett, he says.
The exhibition lasts until the end of March.
