This year’s cultural summer in Neulengbach offers a wide range of cultural events. After the comedy with the piece “Men in the Moon”, the music continues in August: “5 / 8erl in Ehr’n” will start, which will play on the stage in the court on Thursday, August 5th. The five-piece band, which is also nominated for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award 2021, has songs from their latest album “Yeah Yeah Yeah” with them.
It continues on Friday, August 6th, with the band “Floris and the Flames”, which will perform in the court of law. The four Belgian artists not only share a passion for music, but also their red hair color. “Guests can look forward to classical music, but in a more pop and rock style and in a Flames version,” reveals Floris Willem, who also has a family connection to Neulengbach. His brother-in-law, who usually listens to bands like Rammstein, went to one of his concerts in Vienna and he liked the merging of all musical genres, remembers Willem: “He was so enthusiastic that he said: ‘It really has to be played in Neulengbach.’ . ”And so it came about that“ Floris and the Flames ”will be guests in the municipality for the first time, because city councilor Maria Rigler was also enthusiastic about the sound of the quartet.

In addition to Willem, who will convince on the violin, there will also be Gert Peeten (electric piano, guitar, electronics), Dries Peeten (bass guitar) and Simon Schrooten (drums, percussion) on stage. You have all completed a classic apprenticeship, but like to move off the beaten track. “I passed my diploma examination at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna in June. But what really appeals to me is the contact with the audience. I want to touch it and give pleasure, ”said Willem. The “Ode to Joy” by Ludwig van Beethoven, a piece from the violin concerto “The Four Seasons” by Antonio Vivaldi and works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Niccolo Paganini will be heard on Friday, among other songs.
Classical music will follow on Saturday, August 7th, at the open-air operetta concert under the motto “Musical love stories”. “Amorous, amusing and entertaining” is how the Neulengbach mezzo-soprano Martina Steffl describes this very special evening. Together with her colleague tenor Alexander Kaimbacher, accompanied on the piano by Veronika Weinhandl, the audience will be taken on a varied journey into the world of operetta. The program includes musical highlights from popular works such as “Countess Mariza”, “Die Csardasfürstin”, “In the White Horse” or “One Night in Venice”. Anecdotes and background information on one or the other love story will be presented by the moderator of the evening, Clemens Holzbauer.
The cultural week “The Udo Jürgens Story” ends on Sunday, August 8th: Alex Parker inspires Udo Jürgens fans and lovers alike with his wonderful voice and, in Udo’s manner, also accompanies himself on the piano. The perfectly coordinated film and theater actress Gabriela Benesch tells stories and anecdotes from the personal recordings of the great entertainer.
