Cultural “pipe” from Obzor to Rezovo – 2024-03-16 10:15:52

Sofia / world today news/ A cultural “pipe” from Obzor to Rezovo will replace the suspended “Burgas-Alexandroupolis” project.

This joke of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov in front of Burgaz citizens will launch a large-scale government project “Via Pontica” (Road by the sea, note ed.). The idea is to help the Southern Black Sea coast attract more tourists, the director of the National History Museum Bozhidar Dimitrov told Standard newspaper, the daily writes. The Deputy Prime Minister Simeon Dyankov is about to submit to the Council of Ministers a decree to allocate BGN 1.6 million for archaeological excavations from April in 14 settlements from Obzor almost to the border with Turkey. Approximately BGN 120,000 per city is planned. This is also a consequence of the “Wonders of Bulgaria 2011” campaign of “Standard” village.
In Obzor, work will be done on an ancient city on the coast and on the medieval Bulgarian city of Kozyak, Dimitrov also said. The next site will be a church in the ancient village of Emona. “St. Nicholas the Wonderworker” was for many years the stable of the military unit, within whose borders it entered. He is no longer there, the church has been cleaned of animal dung and restoration has begun with funds from local villagers. In Nessebar, the fortress walls will be raised to make them look more impressive. A unique monument worthy of UNESCO will be restored in Pomorie – a combination of the Roman tradition of mausoleums with Thracian tomb architecture.
A large part of the money will go to Burgas and its surroundings. Recently, after a sea storm, a Roman town emerged from the waves near Sarafovo district. Money will also be thrown in the Mineral Baths – Aqua Kalide (the beautiful waters, note).
It will also be mined in Debelt, where there is a huge Roman city with its own customs house. As well as the fortress of Rusokastro and the town from which Burgas took its name – Pyrgos (Poros), located on the estuary of Lake Mandren in Kraimorie district. Excavations will also take place in Chernomorets, the Thracian sanctuary of Beglik Tash on Ropotamo, the Urdoviza fortress near Kiten, in Tsarevo and the episcopal basilica in Ahtopol.
In the pearl of the region – Sozopol, serious excavations will be made on the island of St. Ivan, where the relics of St. John the Baptist were discovered. The aim is to prepare the two churches for restoration. Work will be done on the northern tower of the city, where one of the sea entrances of Sozopol was.
