The objective is for them to share the culture of Tlaxcala, and, in turn, to learn about the traditions and customs of Philadelphia.
Tlaxcala, Tlax; as of March 31, 2024 (Writing).- A group of six Tlaxcalan students from the Technical Secondary School No. 1 “Xicohténcatl Axayacatzin” will travel to the United States, as part of the thirty-eighth academic and cultural exchange they maintain with the institution “Germantown Friends School” in Philadelphia, where they will remain for 20 days .
It will be the students, Camila Yamilet Duen González, Dania Anahí Corona Vázquez, Fátima Vanesa Duen Zecua, Kimberly Flores Zempoalteca, Marisol Cortes Tlachi and Regina Pérez Tecozonami, all from the third grade, from the morning and afternoon shifts, who will participate in the meeting.
The cultural exchange celebrates 38 years of being carried out with Technique No. 1, with the objective of sharing part of the culture of Tlaxcala, as well as its different traditions and customs, through students, who in turn can learn about those of Philadelphia, in Pennsylvania.
The exchanges are aimed at young people who are in their third year of secondary school, which allow them to observe and reflect on the different forms and strategies of teaching in order to learn in another country about its history, customs and way of life, especially social, academic practice and English language development.
The Mexican students, who receive classes in English in different subjects, are hosted in different houses with their “cultural brothers,” so that the students can see and have the experience of living in another country.
Prior to their departure, the director of Technical Secondary School No.1, Teódulo Meza Fuentes, accompanied the students of academic excellence, winners of this cultural exchange, to visit the central offices of the Secretary of Public Education and the Educational Services Unit of the State of Tlaxcala (SEPE-USET).
