Cuéntamelo en Almería: A Magical Storytelling Route for Children

The Plaza Marqués de Heredia hosted yesterday afternoon, Friday, the first storyteller, which will continue on August 9 in Cabo de Gata

There were fifteen minutes left for the storyteller and the boys and girls began to sit on the red carpet, while the actors reviewed the last details. There was a desire to listen to stories and spend a fun hour among the little ones and also by their parents. In a world dominated by digital technology, this activity is an oasis of calm to enjoy in a relaxed way with the stories and games of a lifetime. At eight o’clock ‘Cuéntamelo en Almería’ began, the storytelling route for the month of August, created by Consultora Contraportada for the Department of Tourism, Communications and Promotion of the City of the Almería City Council. Absolutely full of little ones who have had a great time.

The first stop has focused on the cinema, and for this purpose the storyteller Indalecio Jones, the ‘double’ from Indiana, with extensive experience in filming held in Almería, has participated, who has explained to the little ones the relationship of the city with cinema, and how Harrison Ford and Sean Connery, directed by Steven Spielberg, “filmed here next door, in the Cloister of the School of Arts”, among other scenes in the city and province, and that the Walk of Fame , in front of the storyteller, is packed with the stars of film professionals who have participated in films with locations in Almería”. Indaliano has been accompanied by the local policeman Vicente Pascual to ‘bring order’, since the expectation generated by the cinema is well known.

The boys and girls then went on an adventure with Indalecio Jones. “It turns out that under this square there is a passageway, the shelters of the Civil War, and there is a tureen and a saucepan there.” Together they have gone in search of ‘The tureen and the saucepan’, which has taken them to an imaginary country, with the appearance of the puppets of two very good princes and an evil witch. A performance with two actors, puppets, laughter, a lot of curiosity, disputes between two kingdoms, a lot of cinema and enthusiasm among the little ones, which has also amused the parents. And, of course, like any story, with a moral: conflicts are resolved by talking and with good coexistence among all. After the story, which was greatly applauded, the boys and girls participated in various traditional games, such as the balloon or ‘one, two, three, English chocolate’.

The Councilor for Tourism, Communications and Promotion of the City, Joaquín Pérez de la Blanca, explained, in the presentation of the initiative promoted by the Almería Tourist Municipal Company (EMAT), that “this storytelling route is carried out in magical spaces of our city and has characters closely linked to Almería and its history. From the Almería City Council we can only support these types of initiatives that are of cultural and historical value for the little ones in our house and that, in addition, will energize the main squares of the capital during this August.
