Cuenca retains its 177 taxis despite the decline at the national level

The province of Cuenca keeps its 177 taxi licenses that it had last year, 35 of which operate in the capital, according to the latest data published last week by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

The INE takes as reference the data provided on July 31 and in recent months Cuenca has resisted the decrease in the number of licenses in Spain.

Throughout the country there are 287 fewer taxis than in 2018 and with this there are already seven consecutive years of decline in a service than in recent years.

The province of Cuenca reached its license record in 2017, with 187 taxis.

According to INE statistics, only 38 of the vehicles that offer this service in the province carry a meter, including all those in the capital.

Taxi Statistics is an exhaustive investigation that the INE has carried out, in collaboration with the municipalities, since 1994.

Its objective is to offer information on the number of passenger cars available in the reference year in each autonomous community, province and provincial capital, distinguishing whether or not taxis have a meter.
