The whereabouts of Edwin Iván Colmenares García, a young man linked to the Corporation of Professionals for Comprehensive Community Development (Corprodinco), is unknown after being detained by the Administrative Service of Identification and Migration (Saime) in the town of El Amparo, Apure state. , on the border with Arauca.

According to a statement issued by Corprodinco, Colmenares García had traveled to Cúcuta on Friday, November 1, to visit his mother.

The incident occurred after the lawyer completed the passport stamping procedure with the Colombian authorities at the José Antonio Páez international bridge, in Arauca. When trying to carry out the same procedure in Venezuelan territory, he was detained by the Saime authorities. Since then, there is no information about his current location.

The young professional’s mother, Dolly García, spoke with RCN Radio and said that, “I am very worried, the last time I contacted my son was last Friday, “He came to Cúcuta to visit me, taking advantage of the festive weekend.”

García added that he has been working in Arauca as a Corprodinco official for more than a year and “he has never had problems, he has not received threats, he has traveled through the border area legally with all his papers in order as they should be.”

Corprodinco, the organization with which Colmenares García is linked, has expressed concern about the situation and has requested information about his whereabouts.
