Cuban Yordan Alvarez Hits Two Home Runs In Astros’ Win Over Red Sox

The Houston Astros achieved their fourth consecutive victory this Saturday by beating the Boston Red Sox 5-4. Cuban Yordan Álvarez was the star of the game by hitting two home runs in the first and sixth innings.

Alvarez, 27, has hit at least two home runs in four games in the 2024 season, the last of which was on June 1 against the Minnesota Twins.

Houston remains in the lead of the American League West division with a record of 61 wins and 55 losses.

In other news, Dominican Juan Soto reached 80 RBIs for the season in the New York Yankees’ 8-0 victory over the Texas Rangers, in the first of two games scheduled for today.

In the second game between the Rangers and the Yankees, the champions took the victory with a score of 9-4, Cuban Adolis García hit three hits and drove in one run.

The San Francisco Giants scored three runs in the fifth inning and with that managed to win 3-1 over the Detroit Tigers, Puerto Rican Heliot Ramos drove in a run and brought his total to 56 in 2024.

A run in the sixth inning was enough for the Oakland Athletics to celebrate their 49th victory of the season by defeating the Toronto Blue Jays, Cuban Yariel Rodríguez (1-5) pitched 5.2 innings allowing the only run of the game in his fifth loss of the season.

In extra innings, the San Diego Padres defeated the Miami Marlins 9-8, Venezuelan Luis Arráez drove in the winning run in the tenth inning with a sacrifice out, the designated hitter finished the game with two hits and three RBIs.

Venezuelan Robert Suarez (7-1) entered in the ninth inning to take the game to extra innings and after pitching an inning in which he did not allow a hit, he added his seventh victory of the season.
