“Cuban Trumpeter Juan Munguía to Perform at Vicente Lillo Cánovas International Week in San Vicente”

The thirty-sixth edition of the contest began on January 21 with a performance by the jazz fusion group “Flamenko Leaks”a musical contest that will feature the performance international and national artists of various musical styles like the American trombonist Joseph Alessi or the sanvicetero guitarist Alexander Hurtado.

The musical event will take place in the Auditorium of the Social Center of San Vicente del Raspeig until the day March 3rd.

Latin jazz lovers who could not get a ticket for this concert can access the Auditorium without a pass until full capacity.

After the performance of Juan Munguia, The next concert will take place on March 3 with the performance “To my grandfather and his sea” by Carmen Lillo, the granddaughter of Vicente Lillo Cánovasthus closing the musical recital of the International Music Week.

Juan Munguia was born in 1956 in Havana (Cuba). Since 1981, the trumpeter has been part of Irakere, a Cuban orchestra that has won two Grammy awards. For 15 years, he was the first trumpeter of the jazz group.

Throughout his musical career, he has participated in numerous international tours held in more than 50 countries. In addition, the artist has attended multiple jazz and salsa festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, Nice Jazz Festival, Vitoria Jazz Festival, San Sebastián Jazz Festival or Antibe Jazz Fest, among many others.

Both in Cuba and in Spain, Munguía has collaborated on recordings and record productions with orchestras and singers of Cuban popular music and the musical aspect of La Nueva Trova. The musician has played the trumpet accompanied by various artists of international reference such as silvio rodriguez, Pablo Milanes, NG Orchestra the Band, Isaac Delgado, Iraqis,Celia Cruz, Carlos Cano, Jose Merce, Martyrdom o Manu Carrasco
