Cuban trucker recorded the exact moment of the plane crash on I-75 – 2024-02-15 14:26:09

A truck driver of Cuban origin managed to capture the exact moment in which the plane accident that occurred last Friday, February 9 on Interstate Highway 75 (I-75)when a twin-engine plane ended up destroyed and caught fire in the middle of the road.

The man, identified as Alfonso del Nodal, was traveling on I-75 when the incident occurred and was recorded by his vehicle’s camera.

According to the media Telemundo 51the truck driver was driving an 18-wheeler when he noticed in his rearview mirror a plane that was flying very low, something that took him by surprise due to the fact that there was no airport near the area in which he was located.

“The moment I thought about it, I saw it next to my window… closer and closer… until ‘crash’, it fell,” the truck driver explained.

Del Nodal points out that he had to brake due to the large ball of fire and smoke that formed on the road. After that, he and other drivers got out of their vehicles and tried to get closer to see if there were survivors.

The man, who has been a truck driver for more than 30 years, said he had never experienced anything like it. According to his testimony, the fire prevented people from getting very close, and things got worse when a second explosion occurred.

“The smoke immediately reached the sky. We good people got off, but the heat wouldn’t let us, and when we got to the flare there was a second explosion, already on the ground…” he declared.

After this, the truck driver decided to return to his vehicle and leave the area, but he states that he felt the heat emanating from the fire for a good part of the trip.

Accident on I-75

The incident occurred when the pilot of the twin-engine plane, which was heading to the Naples airport, reported a breakdown that left it without engines. Because of this, the plane tried to make an emergency landing on the highway, but hit a vehicle and started to catch fire.

There were five people on board, three of whom managed to get out of the aircraft after the impact. For their part, pilot Edward Daniel Murphy and co-pilot Ian Frederick Hofmann lost their lives..

According to the National Transportation Safety Board, an arduous investigation is being carried out to determine the causes of the accident, which is why the aircraft’s maintenance records and the history of the deceased pilot are being analyzed.
