Cuban regime wrongly reports the death of Juana Bacallao – 2024-02-26 21:35:38

After the hospitalization of the Cuban singer Juana Bacallao, in the last hours of February 22, several official networks of Castro institutions wrongly announced her death.

Through the Facebook accounts of Cuba Actors and the Communication Directorate of Cuban Radio, heartfelt farewells to the actress were published, where condolences were sent to the family and her long career was mentioned.

Although the news resonated strongly during the middle of the first day, with even some independent media echoing the singer’s death, it was later denied, revealing that there is still hope for her recovery.

It was the El Nieto de Juana account that denied the news, stating that she remains hospitalized and in a delicate condition, but at 98 years old she continues to fight for her life at the ‘Carlos Juan Finlay’ Military Hospital in Havana.

“I’m sure that if he could read the fake news about his death he would say with all his grace: ‘Take that letter away from me, asereeee! O Echa over there, tiñosaaaura. Look at this consort you!’” he wrote.

The artist was hospitalized last Monday, February 19, due to severe health complications due to septic shock due to an untreated infection.

Friends and acquaintances of the singer denounced that in her last years Bacallao has been abandoned by the Cuban government, despite having been one of the greatest artists of her time.

Neither the Ministry of Culture (MINCULT), nor any other institution provided her with financial help, and the singer was in a state of malnutrition and dehydrated when she was admitted to the hospital. Part of this neglect is what would have caused the infection and the fact that she couldn’t get antibiotics to treat it.

This indifference of the regime towards one of the most important artistic figures in the country was even more evident in the neglect to publicize his death while he was still alive.
