Several Cubans took to social networks to report the death of a police officer. The incident occurred after a spectacular traffic accident that occurred on the Malecón in Havana on Sunday, February 18.
According to some members of the Facebook group ‘Bus & Truck Accidents, for more experience and fewer victims!’, the crash occurred on the corner of Malecón and G avenues, in the El Vedado neighborhood.
Members of the group used the publication to indicate that the deceased patrolman was young, and was traveling with a companion who was injured after the incident.
It is important to note that this post was later deleted, due to the fear that users felt of possible reprisals by the Castro regime, which does everything possible to prevent news like this, which can leave a bad image of the Police. National Revolutionary Party (PNR), be shared.
The fact was pointed out by user Jesús Manuel Ibáñez Suárez, who indicated that the news was going to reach very few. According to the Internet user, the authorities arrived at the scene almost instantly, and acted quickly to prevent passersby from taking photographs or recording the accident site.
In that sense, he assured that the officers covered the patrol car to prevent people from photographing it from afar, while they maintained strict surveillance on the block where the incident occurred.
Other witnesses confirmed this, and noted that the deceased patrolman’s partner remained at the scene until doctors showed up to check his injuries. He would have suffered a blow to the head, but this did not endanger his life.
Likewise, they confirmed that the deceased patrolman was the one driving the vehicle at the time of the crash, and that he initially remained trapped inside it until some citizens helped him out. Despite this, the young man ended up succumbing to his injuries.
Until now, the circumstances under which the spectacular accident occurred are unknown, and due to the secrecy managed by the regime, it is very likely that they will not comment on the matter.
Another patrol accident in Havana
In November of last year, another patrol car ended up having an accident in the same place, after the driver lost control and went off the road to hit one of the walls of the Malecón in Havana.
What happened was reported in the same Facebook group, where they shared photographs of the damaged vehicle.
“A patrol car from the Provincial Transit Directorate (car 908) received considerable damage when it collided with the barrier, and part of the pier wall, at the height of the US Embassy,” they denounced on that occasion.
