Cuban music and rhythm, Yael Viso Valdez has been cultivating them since the age of 8 in her country. At La Briqueterie, on Saturday evening outdoors, he made the public sweat, and they couldn’t resist the warm flavors and the Cuban libretto.
The weather was ideal to attend this concert organized by the municipality of Ciry-le-Noble in a setting whose brilliance cannot be praised enough.
The Franco-Cuban Yael Viso Valdez radiates as much radiance as a Cuban cigar with its spicy aromas. On his own, he did everything, sing, make people sing, dance and make them dance and even made the hearts of these ladies capsize.
Our man was born in Cuba 52 years ago but he lives in Lyon. “I have been in France since 2003,” he explains. He arrived in France thanks to tours. “With an orchestra we toured in Europe but especially in France. We were doing big shows. And then I found contracts in France and I was able to settle down”.
His whole family is on the island, so “every year I go back to Cuba. This year I have to leave in September” he announces before going on stage at the Briqueterie.
Cuba, he loves. France, he adores. “So I take the best of France and Cuba and combine,” he explains. He who has traveled to many countries, certifies, “France is the best country in Europe”.
The singer shares his opinions
But the Cuban singer, very aware of French news, observes what is happening with us, especially in recent years. He sees insecurity rising. “In Cuba, no one would think of burning their neighbour’s car. I think that in France, the government should give more power to the police and to justice so that we have more tranquility”.
In Cuba, when a young person is arrested once, twice, “the third time, it’s prison” mentions Yael Viso Valdez even if it is difficult to compare his country and France in this area.
That evening, he wanted to talk before his singing tour because all these incivilities upset him. He even thinks that “those who come to France must respect the laws. Democracy must be controlled,” he argues. However, he does not hide it, “in Cuba, we hate Americans who tell us what to do”.
Yael Viso Valdez is above all an artist, a singer who does not only bring happiness to the public because as soon as he has the opportunity, he does not hesitate to talk about subjects that give food for thought. He is free Yael, that’s what we also like about him. He ends his remarks on the pension reform, “it must not go through 49.3” and on Marine Le Pen, “I hope she will never lead France”.
