A man of Cuban origin lost his life after suffering a traffic accident while driving a motorcycle last weekend in Suriname.
The deceased was identified as Emir Castro González, 43 years old, who had an accident on Saturday, February 10, in the city of Paramaribo, capital of the South American country.
According to information shared on social networks, Castro González was originally from the municipality of Cárdenas, in Matanzas, and left behind his partner and two children.
The Cuban was driving a motorcycle on Dr. Sophie Redmond Avenue, in front of a shopping center, when he collided with a van. According to the local press, the accident occurred after the motorist did not yield when the other vehicle was crossing the road.
The deceased’s partner, identified as Meysel Pereira, used her Facebook account to share the sad news, stating that her heart was in mourning.
In the publication, dozens of family and friends sent their condolences and the loss that the woman and her two children were suffering.
Initially, the incident was shared in the Facebook group “Hispanos en Suriname”, where users published a photograph of a man bleeding in the middle of a street next to his motorcycle.
The publication asked for help trying to identify the injured man, noting only that he was of Cuban origin.
The death of Castro González joins that of several Antilleans who have lost their lives abroad. One of these was also recorded in the South American country, after a young woman died in a gas explosion.
Recently, it was also learned of the death of a Cuban engineer who was working on a construction site in the Dominican Republic. According to the local press, he fell from the fourth floor, a fact that is being investigated by the authorities.
