A woman residing in the municipality of Guamá, Santiago de Cuba, was murdered by her ex-partner in broad daylight, an incident that has generated shock in the community.
According to independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, the deceased was identified as Ariannis Torres Tamayo, 38 years old, who was killed in the “La Calabaza” neighborhood, located in the town of Chivirico.
The Cuban woman left behind three children, two of them minors. The communicator points out that the aggressor was her romantic partner for a long time, but that at the time of committing the crime, they were already separated.
Sources close to the victim indicated that the murder took place during the afternoon of Wednesday, April 16.
“The alleged murderer worked in a Acopio car and she was in a motor and she got out in front of the market and he got out of his car and threw a knife at her and cut her face, then he grabbed her by the hair and slit her throat. ”, indicated the journalist.
The complaint states that, after being injured, the victim tried to escape to ask for help, but succumbed to her injuries in front of a well-known store in the town.
“At that time it was full of people because they were selling mortadella,” explains the source.
The aggressor was identified as Waldesnay Sanz Naranjo, who is already detained by the Castro authorities.
Initially, it was said that the murderer was detained in Contramaestre after fleeing, however, a relative of the alleged murderer contacted the communicator to deny this version, pointing out that he did not try to escape.
“He left Guamá for Tercer Frente to say goodbye to his family and tell his father, my uncle, what he had already done was call the police,” said this person on condition of anonymity.
For its part, the feminist platform Yo Sí Te Creo in Cuba also reported what happened in Santiago de Cuba, raising to 17 the number of women who have been victims of feminicide in Cuba since the beginning of 2024.
