Martha Leon, the Cuban mother who went viral this week after her rescue in the dangerous Darien junglespoke about his case and revealed details that show that the situation was much worse than it seemed.
According to her testimony, shared on TikTok, the woman was assaulted by her son during the journey, alleging that he tried to kill her before escaping and leaving her to her fate.
León revealed these details to his daughter, Yudith Rejas León, who lives in Brazil and is doing her best to reunite with her mother.
The grieving mother points out that her son tried to suffocate her, leaving her almost without air, in the same way, he would have given her several blows to the head, before both fell down a ravine in the jungle.
The fall caused the woman to fracture her leg, all while Reiner Morales ignored her pleas for help and left her stranded.
The migrant managed to survive for six days near a river, where she was found by other foreigners who shared her situation on social networks.
León was eventually rescued by several migrants who transported her to civilization on a stretcher, and while her body recovers, what hurts her the most was having suffered such an attack by her own son.
The Cuban’s daughter does everything possible to meet her, for which she went to the Panamanian embassy in Brazil, however, they have faced many difficulties.
For his part, Morales shared his alleged version of events in which he claimed that he saw his mother fall down a ravine and, seeing her unconscious in the background, he thought she had died.
This version was denied by the woman’s daughter, who was told that she remained conscious the entire time, while her son ignored her request for help.
A few days ago, a user identified on Facebook as Albert Suárez shared a similar version, in which he makes it appear that the man tried to kill his mother after she broke her leg.
“They fell and she broke her foot. And he hit her, took her by the neck and squeezed her hard, finally leaving her lying in the river, ”said Suárez, who shared a video of the woman recovering from her.
Currently, León is resting in a hospital in the Panamanian town of Pueblo Chico, where she was taken by four undocumented immigrants who expressed their solidarity with her.
