Cuban actress Lola Amores was awarded Best Actress during the Malaga Film Festival, in Spain, for her leading role in the film The Wild Woman.
On March 8, Amores received the Biznaga de Plata Hotel AC Málaga Palacio award for Best Female Performance, during the festival’s closing ceremony.
The event brought together prominent creators and talents from the film industry at a national and international level in the Andalusian city, where the film in which the Cuban participated also stood out as part of the Official Selection, competing for Best Feature Film.
Through his social networks, the director of the film, the Cuban Alan González, expressed his admiration for the actress, in a comment that she responded to immediately.
“I adore you, Lola!” he wrote. “We adore each other!” Amores replied.
This is the most recent recognition, but not the only one, that Amores has received for her role in The Wild Woman. Last December, she won the award for Best Female Leading Performance at the Ibero-American Cine Ceará Festival, in Brazil.
The film was also awarded at said festival for Best Feature Film and Best Sound, the latter for Michel Caballero and Angie Hernández. Besides, It was considered by the ICAIC as the best Cuban film of 2023.
The feature film had its world premiere last September, during the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)where it was included in the Discovery section, which featured 26 titles from 25 countries.
Starring Lola Amores, the film tells the story of a young mother from Havana, who is determined to break the cycle of violence in which she lives. In addition to the aforementioned cast, the film includes the special collaboration of Jorge Perugorría.
The director, Alan González, previously directed the short films The english teacher (2015), The Anthill (2017) y Lovers (2018), the last two also starring Lola Amores.
