The case of a Cuban migrant who traveled to the United States and is living inside a cargo container in the city of Hialeah, Florida.
The Cuban’s situation was made known through a video shared on the social network TikTok, which shows that the container has been modified to have some home comforts.
The man, whose identity was not revealed, showed that inside the container he has a personal bed, a lamp to illuminate the small space, a refrigerator and a microwave oven.
Despite not having much, the Cuban affirms that he is happy with what he has, regardless of what other people think.
“This is my home, my little corner. People see me and think I have a lot, but in reality, I have very little. But I’m happy,” the man said in the video.

The video is shared in the midst of a worrying period for those who rent homes in Miami-Dade County, as the area has experienced an increase in rental prices.
The local media America TeVé He noted that cities like Hialeah have seen a 6.7% increase in rental prices for two-bedroom apartments, while Coral Springs has seen a 3.8% increase. Finally, the aforementioned media points out that North Miami Beach and the city of Miami have experienced a 2% increase in property rentals.
Experts consulted by the local media justify these increases with the constant migration to those areas, the creation of jobs and the restart of tourism after the restrictions of the pandemic.
The situation has reached the point that Hialeah authorities have proposed measures to deal with an increase in the number of mobile homes that have been noticed in the city, and which are offered for rent to recently arrived migrants.
The problem is due to the illegal connections that many of these mobile homes have, which affects the service for residents of the areas. Likewise, there is an increase in the amount of garbage generated and overcrowding in small spaces.
In that sense, the mayor of Hialeah, Esteban Bovo, indicated that parking bans are being contemplated in the most affected areas, as well as new regulations that limit how small these mobile spaces can be in order to be rented.
