Miami-Dade County authorities arrested a young man of Cuban origin accused of physically attacking his own mother in the city of Miami.
According to local media America TeVéthe young man was identified as Jesús Hernández, 25 years old, who appeared in court accused of assaulting an elderly person and tampering with evidence.
The report indicates that the victim, the detainee’s mother, was hit multiple times while she was driving a car with him on board. The aggression seems to have originated after an argument that escalated until it reached physical attacks.
Police records indicate that the young man, who still remains at the Turner Guilford Knight Detention Center (TGK), also faces charges of vehicle theft, possession of illegal substances and driving with a suspended license.
For now, no further details have been shared about the case that led the Cuban to attack his mother, but he remains detained on a $4,000 bail for charges of vehicle theft, a payment that has not been made.
Cuban arrested for attacking an elderly person
This week we learned of another case in which a Cuban woman attacked an elderly neighbor after she came to his home to complain about the noise she and her family were making.
According to the local press, the woman was identified as María Arteaga, 51 years old, who resides in an apartment complex located at 95 71st Street in northeast Miami.
The report indicates that the neighbor had already complained to the building management, and when she did not receive a response, she decided to confront her neighbors. This sparked an argument during which the detainee pushed the elderly woman, who began to cry.
The victim asked another neighbor, who witnessed everything, to call the police, while Arteaga tried to threaten her so that she would not make the call. In the end, the officers arrived at the scene and detained the woman, who now faces charges of assault against a person over 65 years of age.
