Cuban in Miami-Dade was arrested for stealing $200,000 worth of red meat

Miami-Dade County authorities arrested a man of Cuban origin accused of stealing around $200,000 worth of red meat.

According to the media Local 10 NewsLázaro Izquierdo Crespo, 39 years old, is suspected of having stolen the meat in Orange County.

The arrest took place in broad daylight on Tuesday, September 12, in rural Redland.

Officers arrived at the scene after receiving a report about the presence of a chassis and a container full of meat in the area. The container was tracked to that location with the help of a GPS.

Police arrived at 17425 SW 172nd Street, where they found Izquierdo unloading the meat and later getting into a Ram 2500 pickup truck.

After realizing the presence of the authorities, Izquierdo tried to escape, crashing into one of the Miami-Dade police patrol cars. The Cuban managed to advance a little further, but fell into a pothole located on Southwest 152nd Street, near 167th Avenue, which caused damage to a tire.

The man ended up crashing after losing control, and was arrested by the authorities who were following him. As if that were not enough, Izquierdo was seen trying to get rid of a black leather bag, which contained a substance that police believe is methamphetamine.

The man was also accused of using an electronic device to block the frequency on which the patrols communicated, this in an attempt to thwart the chase.

This is not the first time that Izquierdo has been involved with the police, as he was already wanted for a previous case in which he was accused of stealing an Audi. On that occasion, the Cuban also tried to escape from the detectives who were pursuing him, causing several damages to other people’s property.

As a result of these two incidents, a judge charged him with multiple charges, including grand larceny, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, fleeing police, and possession of controlled substances.

Now, Izquierdo remains at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bail was set at $56,000.

If found guilty, the man could face a sentence of up to 30 years in prison.
