A Cuban resident of Miami has sparked a great debate on social networks, complaining about how she feels exploited by her relatives in Cuba since her arrival in the United States.
Through social networks, Yenny González shared a video in which she accused her people of only writing to her and calling her to ask for money, believing that because she is in the North American country, she is in an “opulent” situation.
The video, uploaded to her TikTok profile, shows the young woman speaking directly to the camera, explaining that her relatives in Cuba believe that they are “the only ones with problems,” when in the US people also struggle economically, they can lose their jobs and even being left without a place to live.
The young woman claims to feel exploited by those close to her, who are the first to ask her for money, even when some of them did not visit her before leaving the Island.
“Starting with the family, no one gave you a penny to get to this country,” he said.
The young woman said that she has only been away from Cuba for a year and a half, so she needs to stabilize, save and focus on what is really important: her son, who stayed on the Island.
“They don’t let you get ahead, it’s everyone above you,” he criticized, indicating that what happens to the rest of his acquaintances is not his responsibility.
“I know that in Cuba there is a need, but here there are also problems. Then you see them telling you: ‘Oh, send me 20 pesos, I don’t have anything to eat.’ And then you see them with 30 boxes of cigarettes and on Saturday at the disco. And here I don’t know what a fucking nightclub is, because I get up and work, home, work, home. “I became the slave of Cuba,” she stated.
In that sense, Yenny advised those who have just arrived in the United States to focus on themselves, and forget everything that stayed in Cuba, except their children, if they have them. This generated controversy, because while several agree with her, others call her selfish and question why she went to the North American country.
“Leave the rest behind, because it totally absorbs you, mentally, physically, economically, everything,” he stressed.
The truth is that the reality of the majority of Cuban emigrants who seek to come to the United States is that they do so to be able to send money to their families, have better opportunities, and somewhat increase the quality of life of their parents or siblings who remain. in Cuba.
However, many times, enthralled with the idea of the “American dream,” they lose sight of the fact that they need to get a job, sometimes two, and that the price of rent currently in the country, and especially in Florida, is very high. Many end up living hand to mouth, sharing a house with strangers, not being able to send everything they want, and taking longer than expected to save for what they need.
