A man of Cuban origin who lived in the city of Houston, Texas, lost his life after a violent assault occurred in his own home.
According to the police report, the deceased was identified as Noel Espronceda Frómeta, 35 years old, and the crime occurred around 2:30 am last Sunday, February 25.
Authorities indicate that three subjects entered the home located in the 5300 block of Castlecreek, near South Post Oak Road, southwest of the city, allegedly with the intention of robbing the place.
The site’s security camera captured the moment in which the masked figures entered the place and one of them turned off the lights in the house.
The Cuban, who was alerted by the noise, asked his wife to hide, shortly before several shots went through the wall of the room. Some of the bullets hit Espronceda Frómeta, ending her life instantly.
David Higgs, detective with the Houston Police Department (HPD), indicated that this had been a very traumatic event for the Cuban’s wife and children.
“It’s a situation that no one ever wants to be in,” the official told television channel KTRK during a press conference.
The detective also noted that there was no reason for area residents to be concerned, as they considered the assault to be an isolated incident.
Liannis Martínez, the victim’s stepdaughter, described the incident as a massacre. In that sense, she said that the worst part of this is that her mother and her children had witnessed everything.
“My mother is in shock, all this happened in front of her, in front of the children,” he declared.
At the moment, the authorities are carrying out the necessary investigations to find the three responsible for this murder. To this end, Houston police have requested the cooperation of anyone who may have seen suspicious people or cars in the area at the time of the incident.
Those with information can contact the police Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or the Houston Crime Stop Line at (713) 222-TIPS (8477). The police emphasize that these types of complaints can be made anonymously.
