A young Cuban lost his life in a tragic traffic accident that occurred in the city of Atlanta, in the United States, only 24 hours after having entered the North American territory with the help of the parole humanitarian.
According to the media America TeVérelatives of the deceased, identified as Omar Ortiz, indicated that he suffered the accident when he went to dinner at a restaurant with his wife’s family, who was the sponsor that allowed him to take advantage of the program that began in January 2023.
The young man’s stepmother, identified as Diana Pérez, went to social networks to ask the Cuban community for help inside and outside the Island, as they need financial support to be able to repatriate Omar’s body back to his homeland.
The woman indicated that people interested in helping could use the number 540-688-6974 to donate through the Zelle platform.
The deceased’s wife, Maylin Rodríguez, also joined the call for help, urging people who could to contribute any amount possible. Both Facebook posts gathered dozens of comments from people who sent their condolences and mourned Ortiz’s death.
A similar case in Texas
Unfortunately, Ortiz’s case has not been the only one in which a Cuban who recently arrived in the United States died after an accident. This week it became known Abdel Pastor Romero, an Antillean who died in the city of Houston, Texas.
The case of Pastor Romero was reported on social networks, where it was reported that he had arrived in the country a couple of months ago, also with the help of the parole humanitarian, and had left his partner and two daughters on the island.
Now, family and friends are looking for a way to gather help to repatriate his ashes back to Cuba.
This family also shared the phone number 78 68 93 80 44, to which people can make deposits through Zelle.
Likewise, they enabled the numbers 78 64 38 64 35 and 78 67 10 75 50 so that anyone with questions can call to ask how they can help in this noble cause. In that sense, the family emphasizes that any contribution, no matter how small, will be well received, since all they want is to say goodbye to the Cuban’s remains in their homeland.
