The results achieved by the Dr. in Sciences Ubaldo Acelio Álvarez Hernández corroborate that a harvest of beans or other crops can be achieved outside their respective stations with the support of Cuban bioproducts, in order to increase food production.
The academic from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the Central University «Marta Abreu» of Las Villas (UCLV) cultivate in his family yard, where he uses the CBQ-AGROG -processed in the Center for Chemical Bioactives, attached to the Villa Clara High School- and Agromena G, granulated fertilizer produced by the Trinidad de Guedes Phosphorite Processing Plant in the province of Matanzas.
As Álvarez Hernández explained —who serves as head of the Department of Agronomy at the UCLV and also coordinates the Local Agricultural Innovation Project (PIAL) in Placetas—, it is possible to obtain high yields and excellent quality without resorting to harmful agrochemicals used in fertilization, which have caused ecological and environmental imbalances.
The alternatives with the so-called friendly products are essential in the municipalities to achieve food sovereignty in times that demand to increase plantings and banish the import mentality. Its application also offers advantages in different productive forms, such as conventional agriculture, semi-protected, protected systems, organic beds and in pots, to name a few.
The effects are notorious in the growth and gain of the plants, while allowing a high degree of water use, strengthening the rooting and do not affect the environment.
Dr. Álvarez Hernández reports the usefulness of bioproducts in other crops in Credit and Service Cooperatives (CCS) of Santa Clara, while concludes a study in the Villa de los Laureles which is in the evaluation phase of returns.
