The Cuban actor, director and plastic artist Jorge Perugorría was awarded the 2024 National Film Award for his outstanding artistic career, as announced by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (Icaic).
Recognized for his role in the iconic film “Fresa y Chocolate,” Perugorría has left a significant mark on national and international cinematography.
In addition to his acting talent, his contribution to the cultural development of Cuba stands out, including his work to maintain the Gibara Film Festival and win the Isla Verde Festival for the Isle of Youth.
Born in Havana in 1965, Perugorría has participated in more than 60 films, showing versatility in various genres.
The National Film Award, awarded since 2003, has recognized outstanding figures in Cuban cinema such as Alfredo Guevara and Humberto Solás.
