Regueiro also confirmed that on that date the price of electricity for major consumers will increase by 25 percent.
The price increases are part of a series of measures that the government announced in December to curb the country’s budget deficit.
Initially, prices were to be increased on February 1, but the announcement provoked long traffic jams at gas stations in Havana in January, after which the measure was postponed and the Minister of Economy resigned.
The price of regular gasoline will go from 25 Cuban pesos to 132 pesos (0.87 euros to 4.60 euros), that of a liter of super from 30 pesos to 156 pesos (1.04 euros to 5.45 euros). The price remains unchanged for drivers from the transport sector.
