Santiago de Chile.- THE DELEGATION Cuban attendee of the XIX Pan American Games participates this Monday in 11 disciplines, with options for medals in athletics, fencing, judo and table tennis.

JUDO

The Cuban team beat Mexico in its first outing in the quarterfinals.

ATHLETICS

The decathlete Josmi Sánchez began the second day of competitions with the 100 c/v test in which he achieved a time of 15.22, which left him with a balance of 823 points. A discreet mark in the discus of 36.19 m gave him just 588 points in his second test this Tuesday.

WATER POLO

The women’s team fell comfortably against Canada, 24 goals to two, in their second outing in group A.

FENCING

Leidis Veranes got off to a good start in the Poule C of the individual saber by beating the Brazilian Karina Zettermann 5-3, but then fell 5-4 to the Mexican Natalia Botello. In her third outing she beat Argentina’s Candela Espinosa 5-2 and then lost 5-3 to Venezuelan Katherine Paredes. She finally concluded the round with two wins and three losses after succumbing 5-3 to the American Maia Chamberlain.

TABLE TENNIS

Estela Crespo fell in seven sets against the Venezuelan Roxy González so she could not advance to the round of 16.

HANDBALL

The Cuban team recorded its second defeat in group B, after losing 30-28 to the United States team.
