Havana, Oct 3 (EFE) .- Cuba registered 4,097 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, 46 deaths and 23,832 admitted patients, which shows a trend towards a decrease in these indicators, according to updated data this Sunday by the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap).

During this week the lowest figures of confirmed cases in one day have been reported since last July, with 4,873 yesterday and 4,097 today, representing 776 less than the previous day.

Today, the autochthonous cases were 4,087 plus 10 imported from Russia, the United States, Spain, Tanzania, the Comoros Islands and Angola, the majority on behalf of Cuban travelers.

As a more complicated territory, the western province of Pinar del Río continues, which the day before identified 1,038 new infections. They are followed by the central Sancti Spíritus (541) and the eastern Las Tunas with 419.

Cuba, where more than 11.2 million people live, currently has an incidence rate of 878.5 confirmed cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

59,880 patients are admitted to hospitals and health centers: of which 30,056 are suspects, 2,992 are under surveillance and 23,832 are confirmed patients (104 in critical condition and 254 in serious condition).

The Caribbean country accumulates 891,447 positive diagnoses for covid-19 and 7,580 deaths from the disease.

According to the latest data from the mass vaccination process in the country, more than 5.3 million people in Cuba have already completed the three-dose scheme with their own anti-covid formulas Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala, which represents 47.8 percent of the Cuban population.

Cuba is not part of the Covax mechanism created by the World Health Organization for low- and middle-income nations to access vaccines, nor has it purchased them on the international market. EFE
