According to Granma, “the drug is one of about 30 drugs chosen by the Chinese National Health Commission” to cure the coronavirus 2019-NCOV.
Luis Herrera Martínez, advisor and commercial scientist at President of BioCubaFarma, the selection of Interferon alfa 2B is due to the “effectiveness shown previously against viruses with similar characteristics to this”.
“It has the advantage that in situations like these it is a mechanism to be able to protect itself, its use prevents patients with the possibility of aggravating and complicating from reaching that stage, and finally having death as a result,” said Dr. Herrera Martínez in statements to Cuban television.
