Cuba Gooding Jr. threatened to sue on rape charges

A woman claims that she was twice raped by the actor in a hotel room in New York in 2013, he categorically denies

US actor and Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. could be prosecuted on charges of rape in 2013, Reuters reported, citing a decision by a Manhattan judge.

Judge Paul Croti ruled on whether there were grounds for Cuba Gooding Jr. to be held accountable for the allegations made against him by a woman posing as Jane Doe.

She claims she was twice raped by the actor in a hotel room in New York in 2013.

The woman met Gooding Jr. at a bar in Manhattan in August 2013 and was invited to join him for a drink at a nearby hotel. He persuaded her to accompany him to his hotel room, where he said he had to change. The actor then raped the woman.

Last summer, Jane Doe filed a civil lawsuit against Cuba Gooding Jr. She is seeking compensation of just under $ 6 million.

The actor categorically denies the accusations.

Gooding Jr.’s court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 7.

Cuba Gooding Jr., 53, won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1997 for his performance in Jerry Maguire.

In 2019, the actor pleaded not guilty to allegations made against him by three different women who claimed to have touched them. The alleged incidents took place in nightclubs in New York a year earlier.
