Hockey players of CSKA Moscow, the current holders of the Gagarin Cup, defeated Severstal Cherepovets at home with a score of 4:3 in the fifth match of the first round of the Fonbet-KHL playoffs.
As part of the winners, Vitaly Abramov (16th minute), Darren Dietz (18), Nikita Nesterov (25) and Anton Slepyshev (33) scored goals. The losers scored Nikita Makeev (28), Daniil Vovchenko (36) and Alexander Suvorov (42).
The score in the best-of-four series was 3–2 in favor of CSKA. The next match will take place on March 12 in Cherepovets.
Avangard advanced to the quarterfinals of the KHL playoffs
According to the results of the regular season, CSKA took the second place in the Western Conference, Severstal became the seventh. The teams meet for the first time in the KHL playoffs.
