CSKA and Spartak Battle to a 2-2 Draw in the Russian Premier League

MOSCOW, October 8. /TASS/. The Moscow football club CSKA tied with the capital’s Spartak with a score of 2:2 in the away match of the 11th round of the World – Russian Premier League (RPL). The meeting took place at the Otkritie Bank Arena in the presence of 25,240 spectators.

Milan Gajic scored a double for CSKA (31st and 61st minutes). For Spartak, the goals were scored by Quincy Promes (41) and Jesus Medina (90+7). Medina moved to Spartak in July 2023 from CSKA. Spartak players came out to the match wearing T-shirts dedicated to the creation of the red-white women’s team, which will be announced on October 14.

Spartak extended its streak without a win to three matches in all tournaments – two defeats and a draw. Prior to this, the team lost in the RPL away match to Krylya Sovetov Samara (0:4) and the Fonbet Russian Cup away game to Dynamo Moscow (0:3).

CSKA has not lost in the RPL for six matches in a row. The last time the army team lost in a Russian championship game was on August 19, losing on a foreign field to Dynamo Moscow (1:2). After that, CSKA won one victory and drew five times in national championship meetings.

Spartak is in 6th place in the RPL standings with 17 points. CSKA is in seventh position with the same number of points. In the next round, Spartak will host Paris Nizhny Novgorod on October 22. CSKA will meet Rubin Kazan away the day before.
