Bulgarian Football Giants Return from Winter Training Camps in turkey
CSKA Sofia, Levski Sofia, and Botev Plovdiv have returned to Bulgaria after completing their winter training camps in Turkey. The teams arrived at Sofia Airport, where their coaches and staff faced the media, sharing insights into their preparations and challenges ahead of the upcoming season.
CSKA’s Silent Return
CSKA’s coach, Alexander Tomash, made headlines as he unexpectedly declined to comment upon arrival. “I will not speak, as I do not want,” he told journalists, leaving many puzzled. His behavior surprised CSKA’s sports director, Philip Filipov, who stepped in to address the media.
Filipov expressed confusion over Tomash’s silence, stating, “I don’t know why Tomash didn’t stop talking. He gives interviews after every game.I think in three days when he spoke, he said everything he needs to say. We did a quality preparation under excellent conditions. The team is on 90% ready for the championship.”
He also emphasized the importance of discretion during the transfer window, which remains open until January 31. “If information comes out of the club, it will hurt the transfers themselves. It is indeed not useful for the club to reveal which football player is negotiating,” Filipov added.
Levski’s Optimism Amid Transfer Challenges
Levski’s coach, Julio Velazquez, remained optimistic despite the team’s lack of new signings. “I’m not worried because sometimes the club has no control over the market. I am constantly communicating with the management. The goal is to upgrade,” he said.
Velazquez reiterated his commitment to the team’s goals, stating, “I have not come to tourism in Sofia, but to pursue with all my great goals in front of the team until the end of the season – a standings for the Euro tournaments.”
Botev’s Struggle with Illness
Botev Plovdiv’s coach,Dusan Kerkez, revealed that a virus had affected the team’s preparation. “All the players have taken it down, which slowed us down and we are not at the desired level of purely conditioning,” Kerkez explained.
