The Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) through Agreement 46-2023 abolished the First Instance Criminal Court for Crimes of Femicide and other Forms of Violence Against Women and Sexual Violence due to duplication of functions, in relation to crimes against women. women, pointing out that there is already a specialized court that is under the Comprehensive Care Model for women victims of violence (SEARCH), which works 24 hours a day.
According to the CSJ, the court that is under the MAIMI model has jurisdiction to hear the urgent investigative acts that are required of it, security and protection measures for the victims and, among others, knowledge of the crimes regulated in the Law Against Femicide and crimes against the life and integrity of people.

“It is identical to the jurisdiction with the Court of First Instance Criminal Crimes of Femicide and other Forms of Violence Against Women and Sexual Violence of Guatemala and that is why it is necessary to delete it”says the agreement.
“The CSJ measure is necessary in order to make efficient the management of the human and financial resources of the Judicial Branch”the magistrates argue in the Agreement.
The implementation of MAIMI was carried out with the support of the United States Government through the United States Agency for International Development, -USAID-.
The Comprehensive Care Model for women victims of violence (MAIMI) is made up of 16, including: Executive Body, Judicial Body, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Education, Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance, Ministry of work and social security, Ministry of social development, Attorney General’s Office, National Institute of Forensic Sciences, Institute of Public Criminal Defense, Institute of the victim, Guatemalan Institute of Migration, Municipality of Guatemala and Defender of Indigenous Women.
