CS:GO: A little Classico Vitality vs G2 with big stakes tonight

Between the nocturnal openings of Roland-Garros and the American schedules of IEM Dallas on CS:GO, fans of the beautiful game in France surely have dark circles under their eyes… Placed just after the last Major, this tournament classified S Tier attracts less attention, in particular because several big teams are absent (visa, Covid-19, etc.). However, we must not neglect this competition which remains prestigious in addition to offering a far from ridiculous prize pool: 250,000 dollars. Team Vitality et G2 Esportsthe two “French” teams are also committed to it and the community hopes to see the formations go as far as possible.

Bad news however: there can only be one in the playoffs (top 6). The two teams will play in the lower-bracket final of group A tonight at 9:30 p.m. (estimated schedule). There will therefore be only one who will have the right to happiness. This “Classico” promises in any case to make sparks.

Can we really talk about “Classico” or “Derby” for Vitality vs CS:GO?

The name is likely to give purists pimples and in reality, we can no longer really speak of Classico between the two teams. They are still part of the world’s gratin, but they have nevertheless fallen back a little in the hierarchy… Ranked 8th (G2) and 10th (Vitality) on HLTV, there was a time when the two formations were firmly anchored in the top 5 , seeing in the top 3 during their peak form. Tonight’s duel remains of quality, but it is still a little less prestigious than in the past…

In addition, it should also be noted that if G2 vs Vitality was so close to the heart of the French community, it is because there was a plethora of tricolor within the two rosters. If we take the ESL One Road to Rio as a reference, we find:

  • Vitality : apeX, Zywoo, Rpk, shox, misutaaa and XTQZZZ (coach)
  • G2 : kennyS, AMANEK, JACKZ, maLeK (coach)

Since then, times have changed a lot. The bees are as much French as Danish and the French contingent has been reduced by half among the Samurai… But the two teams are still the most French on the main stage, pending a possible breakthrough of IS CALLED.

A match that remains high stakes!

Counter Strike : Global Offensive

Even if the poster has less glitter than a few years ago, tonight’s match still promises to be importance capital. For the rest of the tournament, first. The loser will have to go home where the winner can continue the adventure to live his American dream. Casually, the bees have still not won a tournament with their Franco-Danish roster and they would do well to open their counter to calm discontent. Their last trophy dates back to December 2021… with a 100% French roster. On the G2 side, the results are even more worrying. Their last real trophy dates from 2019 (Champions Cup Finals). It’s starting to take forever on the scale of CS:GO.

But beyond the IEM Dallas, both teams must move forward. They both made quite a few changes at the start of the year, with the arrival of two new players (Dupreeh et Magical at Vita, Alexisb et m0nesy at G2) and a new coach (zonic at Vita, XTQZZZ at G2). Since then, the performances have been rather disappointing… as evidenced by the absence of playoffs during the Major in Antwerp. So it’s time to wake up and send a sign to the rest of the world. For the record, the last duel between the two structures had turned to the advantage of Vitality (2-1 in BLAST Premier Spring Groups).

The esports has been keeping a close eye on the current situation in Ukraine since the invasion began. A CS:GO team has so far been a symbol: Navi. Composed of Ukrainian and Russian players, it has long conveyed a message of solidarity and mutual aid… before imploding.
