Dunakeszi also joined the European Mobility Week, the closing event of which was today’s bike parade and breakfast. Nearly four hundred people, including students, parents, and adults, took part in the IV. King Béla held a pre-start warm-up on the main square.
Before the parade to Katonadom, Mayor Csaba Dióssi handed over the XII. The main prize of the Dunakeszi Festival, a bicycle offered by Winkler Sport Kft. and Merida to Panka Lőrincz, who immediately opened the gift. Zoltán Gedei also received the scooter offered by Decathlon on the spot. Csaba Dióssi greeted the cyclists, who covered the entire distance with his two deputy mayors – Dávid Sipos and Márton Nyíri.
“Perhaps the older people remember that when the highway bicycle path was completed in 2011, there was a similarly significant bicycle parade, also led by the police. In 2010, we decided to build bike paths in the city, and it is thanks to this that we can now safely participate in the Mobility Week, since all our institutions can be reached on the designated bike path or bike lane. After the Mobility Week, we will also have a raffle, since all those who participate in the program and collect the five stamps, among them we will raffle a bicycle, a scooter, and a total of twenty different gifts – emphasized Mayor Csaba Dióssi in his opening speech.
After the short warm-up, the convoy of cyclists started with a motorcycle police escort to the IV. From King Béla main square, touching Árpád utca. Passing through Barátság út, they approached the EuroVelo 6 international bicycle route. The destination was Katonadomb, where Zsófia Kundlya and her team of cheerleaders awaited the bikers. The reward for the early morning roll was a delicious sandwich and refreshments as a gift from the municipality.
“Many children and parents came to the event. We met with teachers, students and colleagues, so I think our initiative was successful. It is obvious that everyone had a good time here at the venue, which is why we are confident that we will be able to organize a similar event next year, emphasized Deputy Mayor Dávid Sipos.
